Producer: Radio & Events
My event career started in the hotel business, the foundation for all my industry related work. The corporate arena molded me into a “detail demon” when it came to large events, and my independent event producer role afforded me the opportunity to take on Olympic-sized events while traveling the world. I’m convinced that I came out of the womb with a passion for events.
The last six years however, have afforded me opportunities to revitalize my passion for music through community radio. My radio work began in 2007 at KBOO 90.7FM in Portland, Oregon where I volunteered my time and production talent in exchange for knowledge. Volunteerism at KBOO paid dividends in the form of learning all the equipment and audio software one would need to produce, record and air a radio show. One-on-one training and opportunities to collaborate with other programmers, producers and DJs were also plentiful. This was the beginning of my love affair with community radio; from hosting public affairs shows to co-hosting a long-standing Afrocentric music show that allowed me to incorporate international music.
Upon moving to Charlotte, NC in 2010, I searched for a community radio station that had similar beliefs as KBOO and Plaza Midwood Community Radio was the only one that came close so I launched Voices From The Community on PMCRadio in January of 2012. Now, my two hour jazz and international music show, that is lovingly designed to soothe the soul and stimulate the mind, can be heard every Wednesday via my Voices From The Community.co site. The RSS feed, iTunes, MixCloud, or the email subscription service allows you to listen to the show seamlessly each Wednesday.
My event career continues in the form of creating events that have meaning like Ignite Charlotte, an event that features 5 minute talks by community members. Stay tuned for more events from me and enjoy the music.
…always consider the possibilities…
